As a coach for 30 years, I was keen that the visual clues are the same in the simulator as in real boats.

This simulator isolates each skill, one at a time, so that it is easy to master them all.

In most sailing situations, all the skills are bundled together and each time on the boat is different, which makes it very difficult to know exactly what you need to learn or what you are doing wrong.
