Not all characters will be readable on some Android devices specifically the old ones running old Android versions due to lack of some characters in the Android system fonts, but they will be completely readable on any iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, Mac and most PCs. If you copy any character and paste it anywhere else and it appeared as �, this means that your device doesn't contain that character in the Android system fonts. Unfortunately, we as developers, can never do anything about it to fix it due to the limits of Android system.

However, if you want to know which characters work on your device, you can do so by opening the settings of the app and checking the "Show readable characters" option.
