Squealock is a space themed anonymous chat app built with privacy and security in mind to protect your digital footprint. It is the only anonymous chat app that allows you to change your primary identifier or username (patent pending). This free chat version of Squealock allows to experience it before purchasing it, as it is a different way of messaging. Squealock cannot remain a free chat app since we show no ads, nor use or sell your personal information to marketers and advertisers. When you register you don’t even have to provide a valid email (we do not validate). It is only needed to reset your password in the future.

Why Squealock is better:

Most secure messaging or anonymous chat apps require your phone number to validate your account when you register. Whatever the reasons are for requiring your phone number, it is likely being stored on a server somewhere and is vulnerable to hacks. In an article published by the Guardian in April 2016, a German security expert explained how your phone number is all a hacker needs to read your texts, listen to calls and track you. Even if you claim to have nothing to hide, you could be spammed, or tricked into installing malware on your phone by simply clicking on a file or downloading a picture sent to your mobile phone number. Such malware can be used for collecting data such as your account passwords (PayPal, Amazon, banking etc….), credit card numbers associated with your device, often resulting in a massive data breach. Our users are therefore less likely to become victims of such data breaches.

Besides protecting your digital footprint and preventing others from collecting your data, our secure messaging app aims to protect your privacy. Today’s popular social networking apps and sites know everything about you. This is dangerous, especially when your personal information could end up in the wrong hands. Things you post on social media can cost you your job, as employers may still be able to access your history without your knowledge, even if you use strong privacy settings. This secure messaging app destroys all traces of messages once read, to prevent sharing with third parties. Sending nude photos, also known as sexting, is now common with the use of mobile phones, but can be dangerous when done through regular text messaging because:

- While not using a secure messaging app like ours, anyone with your number can hack into your phone.

-SMS isn't safe; your messages are not protected while in transit, and could be exposed to prying eyes.

- You have no control over what people could do with messages or pictures you send them, and it sometimes leads to people becoming victims of revenge pornography, which consists of sharing someone’s nude pictures with one or more people without their consent. Such material could be used to blackmail people into doing things they would rather not do. While legislation was passed in certain countries to outlaw this practice, revenge porn can be hard to prosecute when the perpetrators are from the dark web and hard to trace. We therefore recommend that you never send a nude photo to anyone with your face in it, even as Squealock prevents screenshots on Android, and destroys messages once read.

Please note:

- We do not allow profile pictures, because they can reveal your identity. Without a profile picture, even if someone takes a picture of your messages with an external device, they still can’t prove you are the actual message sender, if their intent is to use your words against you. We recommend that you do not use your real name or email address as your Squealock user ID, or add any personal information to your profile, for additional security.

- We do not access your phone contacts like most secure messaging and other free chat apps do.

- In our anonymous chat app we only allow users to engage 1 on 1, based on interest, to prevent the chaos often associated with other anonymous group chat.
